As we begin the new calendar year of 2018, we look back on the many celebrations of faith and life our parish has experienced
together in 2017, honoring the 250th anniversary of Assumption Parish, and worshipping together in thanksgiving and praise of our Lord, most recently through the Advent and Christmas season.

What a wonderful year we have had, and what great hope for our future!

Let’s begin the new year by acknowledging and thanking, and praying for all those who have offered their time, talent, and treasure, to making all of these events and experiences proceed so smoothly.  Especially, we thank all those who have served the parish with their gifts through the liturgical ministries, music ministry, hospitality, decorating, formation and education, and outreach to the poor.

We are a parish abundantly blessed with devoted people of faith.  There are many gifts yet to discover and offer to God for his purposes.  With much gratitude we begin this new year, saying “Thank you” to each and every one who has given of themselves in ways big and small to help the Church thrive as the living presence of God in the world, particularly in this community.  May God bless all of you and your families as we begin the journey God has in store for us in 2018!!

At the beginning of a new year it is fitting to ponder our spiritual life and how we might encourage our spiritual growth as the year unfolds.

Perhaps as we start this new year you may like to offer your gifts in a new ministry. Maybe you are interested in deepening your knowledge of the Catholic faith, preparing for missed sacraments, or even entering the Catholic faith through the sacrament of Baptism. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is open to new faces all year round. As a faith community we worship together, celebrate together, and support one another on this journey toward God we refer to as ‘daily life’.

If the Holy Spirit is moving you to a new endeavor in your faith life, or in service to our parish, and you are unsure of the next step, please contact our Pastoral Minister, Jean Beneteau at or 519-253-2493 ext. 236 to discuss your thoughts, options, and opportunities for moving forward.

May God bless you in your desire to know him more.
